Head Coach John Anderson used his fourth overall pick in the draft to select the 2008 WHL Rookie of the Year Forward Evander Kane who currently ranks 4th among rookies in goals. The franchise then went out and signed free agent Nik Antropov and traded for defenceman Pavel Kubina.
The team, as of this writing, is sitting in third place in the Southeast Division with a 24-22-8 record with the second half of the season yet to go. Management feels that the proper pieces are in place for the team to be able to succeed.
